Below is a list and description of current and recent team members.
Mehtaab is leading the NIBC 2023 team. This is his third year organizing the competition. The past summer, he worked at a crypto asset fund in New York. Prior to that, Mehtaab spent time at a special situations hedge fund.
Apart from NIBC, Mehtaab has developed and exited two startups in the crypto and media space. He enjoys new experiences, working out, and playing chess in his free time.
Rishabh is a junior year business student at The University of British Columbia, majoring in Finance. He grew up in Shanghai and speaks fluent Mandarin. This coming summer, he will be interning with the Global Markets team at Goldman Sachs in New York.
Rishabh is also involved with the financing team at UBC Sailbot & Robotics, which just launched their latest autonomous vessel this Fall. During his free time Rishabh likes to play pool, go on weekend hikes, and ski trips.
Lavina is a third-year finance student at The University of British Columbia. She interned at BMO Wealth Management last summer and will be joining BMO Capital markets in Toronto for next summer.
Lavina is an avid violinist and played in the Vancouver Youth Symphony Orchestra. She also played competitive basketball and enjoys badminton, tennis, pottery and traveling in her free time.
Bob is a third-year finance student at The University of British Columbia. He will be joining the Investment Banking Division at BMO Capital Markets this summer. Prior to BMO, he worked at British Columbia Investment Management Corporation on their Infrastructure and Renewable Resources team.
Outside of work and NIBC, Bob enjoys trying out new activities, golfing and traveling.
Doris is a third-year finance student at The University of British Columbia. This past summer, she interned at a boutique hedge fund in downtown Vancouver and will be joining the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) for next summer.
Outside of NIBC, Doris is a part of Vancouver Propel Impact Fund and JDC West Academic Team. She also won several competitive horse riding championships. In her free time, she can be found golfing or kiteboarding in the summer and snowboarding in the winter.
Benjamin is a second-year student at The University of British Columbia where he finished at the top of his class and intends to specialize in Finance. This is Benjamin’s first year with the NIBC Organizing Team.
Outside of academics, Benjamin has been successful in competitive basketball for many years and enjoys golfing in the summer as well as skiing in the winter. Apart from all things basketball, Benjamin likes to travel whenever there is an opportunity.
Eliza is a second-year student at The University of British Columbia intending to specialize in Finance. She currently works at Scotia Wealth Management, where she developed an interest in the markets working closely with Portfolio Managers. This is Eliza’s first year on the NIBC team and she will be joining CPPIB in Toronto for the coming summer.
Apart from NIBC, Eliza is a member of the Compounding for a Cure Foundation. She enjoys working out, exploring Vancouver’s fine dining scene, and traveling.
Spencer is a second-year student at the University of British Columbia with an intended specialization in Finance where he finished top of his class. This is Spencer’s first year as an Associate at NIBC.
Aside from NIBC, Spencer is a member of Sauder’s 2023 Jeux du Commerce competition team. Originally from Calgary, Spencer is an avid athlete and enjoys working out, hiking, and developing a variety of new skills.
Miguel is a third-year student at The University of British Columbia with a specialization in Finance. He will be joining the British Columbia Investment Management Corporation (BCI) this summer. This will be Miguel's first year serving on the NIBC team.
Outside of NIBC, Miguel is currently an investment analyst for Investa Insights, Canada's largest intercollegiate investment club. In his free time, he enjoys cycling in the city, playing outdoor basketball, and trying home cooking recipes.
Ayano is a third-year student at The University of British Columbia (UBC) with a specialization in finance and a minor in law & society. She will be joining Citi for an internship in Tokyo next summer. Previously, Ayano volunteered as an alumni speaker for the Stanford e-Japan program.
She has won the Outstanding International Student Award and International Community Achievement Award at UBC. In her spare time, Ayano enjoys traditional Japanese tea ceremonies, traveling, and skiing.
Sofiia was a long-term member of the NIBC Team serving as Conference Director and continues to assist the team with oversight and operational support. She pursued a career at Canaccord Genuity for several years before starting her own venture.
Tennille served on the NIBC Team as Conference Director most recently in 2020 and continues to assist the team with alumni engagement. She is currently working at PSP Investment analyzing investments in healthcare and traveling between Montreal in Vancouver.
