James Huang

BCom, Finance 2020
Director, Corporate Relations

James is going into his last year at the University of British Columbia with a specialization in finance. He is currently an investment banking summer analyst at Macquarie Capital and most recently completed an investment banking internship at Blair Franklin Capital Partners in Toronto. This is James's second year on NIBC returning as a Director. 

Aside from NIBC, James is an Analyst for the Association of Canadian Intercollegiate Investment Clubs (ACIIC). He was a former competitive athlete in both basketball and track & field. He played on the regional basketball team and won gold medals in both 4x100m relay race and discus throw. During his free time, James enjoys bodybuilding, playing poker, and spending time with friends and family.

Eric Hall

BCom, Finance 2020
Director, Competition

Eric is a fourth year student at the University of British Columbia specializing in finance. This coming summer, he is joining HSBC Global Banking and Markets in Hong Kong. Previously, he worked at Deloitte in Vancouver and was apart of a student run equity research club Gordon Investment Research. This is his second year on the NIBC team.

Outside of NIBC, Eric competes internationally in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, enjoys spending his free time travelling, and spending time with friends.

Tennille Robertson

BCom, Finance 2020
Manager, Conference

Tennille will be entering her 4th year at the University of British Columbia with a specialization in finance and accounting. This will be Tennille’s second year as Manager on the NIBC organizing team.

Apart from NIBC, she is currently an analyst at a software company, where she has been supporting the launch of an application. Tennille also has experience working at Canaccord Genuity Wealth Management as an intern, supporting a senior advisor who specializes in M&A transactions and pre-IPO placement. In her free time, Tennille enjoys organizing luxury events and has been working towards building an event management brand.

Viktoriya Tsurikova

Manager, Conference

Viktoriya is a third-year student from the University of British Columbia and an aspiring CPA. Over the past few years, she has gained experience in different fields, such as real estate, accounting and consulting.  Currently, she is helping a Vancouver-based entrepreneur to run one of his businesses as a business manager.

Apart from building her career and working in NIBC, Viktoriya has a broad range of hobbies. She is an ardent personal development enthusiast. On a daily basis, she is expanding her knowledge about bodybuilding and nutrition, psychology and philosophy. Besides that, she likes giving back to the community by volunteering for different non-profit organizations.

Mehtaab Chandi

BA, Economics 2021
Director, Case

Mehtaab is a third year student from the University of British Columbia. He first gained exposure working in finance via Sansar Solutions, a boutique accounting firm. In addition to winning UBC Finance Association’s Portfolio Management Competition, he has competed competitively in and won Chess, Rugby, and Soccer championships. Apart from NIBC, he is currently with the UBC Trading Group and MvC Capital.

During Mehtaab’s free time, he enjoys reading financial literature, hitting the gym, and playing sports.

Maori Hayashi

BCom, Finance 2020
Director, Operations

Maori is a fourth-year student at the University of British Columbia specializing in Finance. She is currently an investment banking summer analyst at Citigroup. This is Maori's second year on the NIBC Organizing Team as the Operations Director.

Aside from NIBC, she is VP Finance at a non-profit organization where she pursues her passion of helping youth establish financial literacy and investment knowledge. In the past, she also played competitive basketball for 7 years in Japan. During her free time, she enjoys reading, dancing, snowboarding, and travelling.

Shaurab Hamal

BCom, Finance 2020
Director, Marketing

Shaurab is going into his fourth at the University of British Columbia with a specialization in finance. He is currently an Investment Intern at Grosvenor Group. Previously, he completed an internship at Strategic Exits, a boutique advisory firm geared towards start-ups. This is Shaurab’s second year on NIBC, returning as a Director.

Aside from NIBC, is on the board for the Commerce Undergraduate Society of UBC. Shaurab used to play competitive soccer, and has won multiple provincial and league championships at high levels of soccer in BC. During his free time, he enjoys playing soccer, reading books, and spending time with friends and family.

Eric Norman

Associate, Competition

Eric is a fourth-year finance student at the University of British Columbia. This past summer, Eric completed an investment banking internship with BMO Capital Markets.

Apart from NIBC, Eric is involved with the Association of Canadian Intercollegiate Investment Clubs (ACIIC) and was formerly a varsity track and field sprinter. In his free time, Eric enjoys skiing, rugby, and travel.

Izabella Shalygina

Associate, Conference

Izabella is a Sauder School of Business graduate with Accounting specialization. This is Izabella’s first year as Associate at NIBC.

During university years Izabella worked as an assistant manager at luxury retail store, where she was able to master her customer satisfaction and leadership skills while combining work with passion for fashion. After graduation, Izabella decided to pursue a career in accounting and now she manages accounting for a $10m public company. In her free time Izabella loves to travel around the world in search of perfect kitesurfing place. In addition, she participates in flat track dirt bike competitions.

Angela Co

BCom, Finance and Business Technology Management 2021
Associate, Marketing

Angela is entering third year at the University of British Columbia with a specialization in finance and business technology management. This is Angela’s second year with the NIBC organizing team. Apart from NIBC, Angela is completing an internship at a security firm as a summer analyst. In previous years, Angela was also a summer analyst at Philippine National Bank and the portfolio fund manager at Enactus UBC.

As well, she is a member of the Spark Endowment Program designed to help student’s ability to purposefully and productively contribute to society. Angela is an avid sports fan, having played 5 seasons of provincial field hockey and ultimate frisbee. In her free time, she enjoys watching documentaries, golf and yoga.

Ayush Paliwal

BCom, Finance 2021
Associate, Case

Ayush will be entering his third year at the University of British Columbia with a specialization in finance. He is currently a private equity summer analyst with BCI. This is his first year on the NIBC organizing team, having previously competed in the final round of the competition.

Apart from NIBC, Ayush is also an analyst for WestPeak Research Association. During his free time, he enjoys soccer, backpacking, behavioural economics, and volunteering.

Nina Erdevicki

BCom, Finance 2021
Associate, Competition

Nina will be entering her third year at the University of British Columbia with a specialization in Real Estate & Finance. She most recently completed an investment banking summer internship at Gravitas Securities focusing on both early-stage and more mature technology clients.

Outside of NIBC, Nina competed nationally in Women's tennis and was ranked 1st in BC and 7th in Canada. She currently competes for the UBC Women’s competitive tennis team where she also looks after the team's finances. During her free time, Nina leads the branding and web development for a start-up project and enjoys teaching youth, travelling, and hiking with friends.

Brett Hennesy

Associate, Conference

Brett is going into his third year at the University of British Columbia’s Sauder School of Business with a specialization in finance. This is Brett’s first year with the NIBC organizing team as an Associate.

Aside from NIBC Brett is the Financial Director for Kite Vancouver a non profit organization supporting advocacy and education in low income areas. He is also the Philanthropy Chairman for the Sigma Chi Fraternity of UBC spearheading fundraising for the Huntsman Cancer Foundation. Brett was a provincial level athlete in both track & field and football. Having played on Team BC, as well as, placing on the podium for both the 100m and Hammer Throw. During his free time, Brett enjoys skiing, working out, reading and wakesurfing.

Brandon Jao

BCom, Finance 2021
Associate, Operations

Brandon will be entering his third year at the University of British Columbia with a specialization in finance. He is currently completing an internship with Mackenzie Investments until the end of summer. This will be Brandon’s first year serving the NIBC team as an Associate.

Outside of reading books and following the markets, Brandon thoroughly enjoys competing in sports. This past year he helped lead the JDC West Athletics team to a podium finish. In his free time he can be found in the crossfit gyms or the basketball courts.

Alan Yang

BCom, Intended Finance 2022
Associate, Conference

Alan is an incoming second-year student at the University of British Columbia intending to specialize in finance. This summer, Alan will be joining Deloitte as a tax associate. This is Alan’s first year with the NIBC organizing team.

Aside from NIBC, Alan is currently a financial analyst for the Commerce Undergraduate Society (CUS) of UBC. Alan also has played over 12 seasons of competitive volleyball, and is a 3-time provincial medalist as well as 3-time city champion. During his free time, Alan enjoys watching and playing basketball, snowboarding, hiking, and cooking.
