Competition Process

Below is a timeline of key dates for the NIBC 2017 Competition.

 

Competitor Preparation: Upon registration, teams will receive access to competition preparation tutorials and templates released through the NIBC Live competitor portal from the time of registration opening until the completion of the First Round in October.

First Round: The First Round begins with the dissemination of the First Round Case on September 25, 2017. Registered teams will receive a 100-page case package with comprehensive valuation model template and detailed instructions. They will have 4 weeks to prepare their submission with the expected required resolution time being slightly over 2 weeks. Competitors will submit their cases by October 22, 2017, after which the top 48-64 Undergraduate and Graduate teams will be invited to the Final Round held in Toronto, Canada. 

Final Round: During the Final Round held on November 29-30, 2017 in Toronto, finalist teams will receive a case package with refined research, datasets and a scenario-enabled transaction model.

Boardroom Panel: Teams will be given 8 hours of resolution time to analyze a realistic investment banking transaction and prepare a board presentation to a pannel of experienced bankers in tiers of 8 teams per boardroom.

Gala Dinner Panel: The best 2 Graduate and 2 Undergraduate teams will present to a live audience of 500 professionals and students during the Gala Dinner. The Final Round Judging Panel comprised of Senior Managing Directors will then select the winning teams to which a $15,000 prize pool will be awarded.

Registration: The registration fee is $160 per team of 2-4 and $140 during the early-bird registration period until August 20th subject to capacity and includes access to a schedule of online resources. After September 15, 2017, the registration fee will increase to $200 per team.
