NIBC 2016 Registration & Competition Highlights:
The First Round of the Competition is scheduled to take place from October 19 to November 16, 2015.
The principal focus of the Competition is to offer students a platform that simulates a realistic investment banking scenario, providing them with an opportunity to learn and apply practical skills relevant to a career in the capital markets. These skills include analysis of financial data, running scenarios in financial models, and evaluating structural alternatives against client parameters. Each year, the organizers collaborate with investment banking professionals and Board of Advisors to produce a case that is both engaging to competitors, and representative of a potential real-world transaction.
The Competition itself is comprised of two divisions: Graduate and Undergraduate. In 2015, after a Preliminary Round consisting of a sophisticated valuation and pitchbook development exercise, 24 Undergraduate and 24 Graduate teams were selected to advance as finalists and compete during NIBC’s two day conference at the Pan Pacific Hotel. The conference plays host to over 450 students and industry professionals, culminating with a Gala Dinner, during which the top two Undergraduate and Graduate teams respectively present a live pitch to Managing Directors of leading investment banks. The international outreach of the event, coupled with the strong presence from industry professionals makes NIBC a lucrative recruiting opportunity for students looking to pursue a career in the capital markets.
The 2015 Competition winners for the Undergraduate and Graduate divisions were New York University and the University of Western Ontario, respectively.
